    ROBERT GLASPER EXPERIMENT

Grammy winning producer, pianist, and Blue Note recording artist Robert Glasper allows his affinity for pop, jazz rock and hip-hop to inform his musical sensibilities. From Houston, Texas, Robert was inspired to play piano by his mother, a gospel pianist and vocalist, He attended the  famous Houston High School for the Performing Arts. After graduation, he studied music at the New School University in Man-hattan, where he found performance work with such jazz luminaries as bassist Christian McBride, saxophonist Kenny Garrett, and others.

After graduating college, Glasper worked with a variety of major artists, including trumpeter Roy Hargrove, vocalist Carly Simon, and rapper Mos Def. In 2009, Glasper released the forward-thinking album ‘Double Booked’, which featured a mix of post-bop and funky '80s Herbie Hancock-inspired numbers.

In 2012, the Robert Glasper Experiment (with a slew of all-star guest vo-calists) issued their first stand-alone album, ‘Black Radio’, for Blue Note, which sought to blur boundaries between jazz, hip-hop, R&B, and rock & roll; it entered the Billboard jazz charts at number one. Flaunting a diverse array of featured guests including Common, Brandy, Jill Scott, Dwele, Norah Jones, Snoop Dogg, Lupe Fiasco, Lalah Hathaway and Erykah Badu, Glasper surprised and delighted critics and fans alike.

The current release of the movie MILES AHEAD, Don Cheadle’s moving exploration of Miles Davis, is accompanied by a soundtrack overseen by Robert Glasper. This music score further exemplifies Glasper's remarkable skill as a producer and musician. Robert Glasper is one of the biggest headliners in jazz today and comes to Cork with his extraordinary Experiment band featuring Casey Benjamin (saxophone/vocoder), Derrick Hodge (bass), and Mark Colenburg (drums).
